Default 50 DB of Seperation = ? Down From 100 W ?

I'm thinking of installing a coax switch (basically in reverse of it's
normal configuration - two inputs one output ) between two tuner's
outputs. Both are run off of the same 100W transceiver that has two
antenna outputs. That way I can switch between the two tuner's without
having to switch coax connectors etc. The "MFJ" switch lists 50 DB of
separation. According to my calculations ( its been a long time since
I've been in electronics class ! ) that would mean the unused port of
the switch would see about ~ .0015 W applied to it's output?

I wouldn't think that low amount of power would harm the other tuner ?

Thanks in advance.

Gary,
I wouldn't think it would bother the tuner either. But it also
depends on what the tuner is connected to, as in antenna, which will
also supply some voltage to the tuner...

PS - Try it, see what happens.

Gary, wouldn't 50 db of attenuation reduce 100 watts to
exactly 0.001 watt?

I"m not sure Chuck, my math with decibels is pretty rusty. I spent a
couple of bucks more and got the Daiwa coax switch which has 60 db of
attenuation, so I should be safe in that regard. Now if I can just
keep from accidently transmitting 100 W into the coax switch when it's
got that imput grounded :^)

Thanks for your input.

Personally I think you are splitting hairs... on something like a tuner it
should take the power as little as it is.
