Same difference. I wouldn't live in one of those deed restricted
developments, and I definitely wouldn't live in SoCa.

I didn't have any choice. I had to take the job here in order to support my
family.
Good paying job openings for MSEE's were not all that abundant in 1971.

We have choices.

Seems like those were the days when the last engineer leaving Seattle was
supposed to turn off the lights.....I ended up in NJ for a couple of years
during that timeframe.

Ah yes. I think I was at the Seattle Boeing facility once or twice, and
also at St. Louis and several other of their places.

The April QST article I liked appeared in about 1973. It was an article on a
zero-bandwidth audio filter. The schematic showed a "filter" connected
between the hot side of a phone jack to ground, and the bill of materials
listed the filter as a precise length of "common copper conductor". I had a
Princeton PhD in physics ask me where he could purchase some common copper
conductor. He took it fairly well when I pointed out that the article was
from an April issue.

Dr Shorza Gitchigoomie also wrote about Useing "Negative Resistance" to do
the Contra Polar Energy thing. Funny, I could never get these to work the
way he described them (think was about 14
at the time)! That was CQ's premier "Engineer"!

There was an article in QST about underground antennas. It might have
been an April fool's article but it was so long ago I don't remember
for sure. I was 14 or 15 and anything seemed possible. :-)

I'm next?

You obviously don't realize how large SoCal is! Come visit sometime
and I'll take you on roads where you can drive for hours and never see
another car or person, not to mention a Homeowner's Association. :-)

The county I live in, San Bernardino, is larger than nine of the
states. Think about that for a moment. How come we don't have two
senators?

Apparently they even don't have call books there where you are! :-)
I've lived here since the middle of last century. Heck, I own
property 10 miles down the road from you.

I guess they must not have mail delivery out there. According to your
FCC records, you pick up your mail in Los Angeles.

None of the other counties wanted any of it. :-)

We do. And you can have 'em.

Are you talking about Silverado? I haven't the foggiest where it is
but I guarantee it isn't ten miles down the road from me.

Busted call. I have never lived in or picked up mail in Los Angeles.

Try again.

Is Silverado a stealth community? I went to

http://www.hometownlocator.com/City/...California.cfm

and the map shows a bunch of towns, but not that one.

Actually, that might be good for a ham worried about Homeowners
Associations. :-)

I'm formerly from the People's Socialist Republic of Massachusetts. I know two
