I have a htx 10 and have limited funds. I bought a lil wil and tried to

do swr
but could not get lower than 1.7:1. I think I have cut the antenna too

short.
Can I replace it with the same diameter stainless steel piece from a

hardware
store and cut it to 36" I have left something out. After trying to

adjust a
little lower in swr, my meter just kept reading 3.0. That is why I think

I
cut it too short. I should have left it at 1.7!

Thanks

Hi Greg,

I too run a HTX-10 in my car. I use a Wilson 5000 mag-mount on the roof of
the car. A tad beefier, but the principle is the same. Replacement whips
can be had for about nine bucks. Hope that helps.
