A strong signal will jump practically any relay contact spacing and find its way into any connection close by any circuit path. I'd suspect the weak signal that you're hearing coming through at the "IF" frequency is within the technical specs of the receiver. With something as simple as a converter or the like in front of an IF you can't expect perfect or even great rejection of signals at the frequency of the converter output. Are we perhaps trying to fix something that isn't broken? Maybe make an FM band trap and put it inline? I am not too sure about that. Because i've been talking with man who also have R-7000, and i gave him instructions what to do, to test this 1GHz "feature" that my unit has. He tried exaclty the same settings and didn't had any problems with 1GHz performance. To be 100% sure i even told him to tune to local FM station that is near his location. Again, no problems at all on his unit. |
