Yeah, my radio has the 1R5. I want to get a 1L6 to properly check out all the
functionalities as well as a proper alignment.

Thanks again,

Barry - N4BUQ

There are some workarounds for the missing 1L6. A guy over on
rec.antiques.radio+phono makes an adaptor to use the older loctal tube, and
there's a sub for the 1L6 if you just want it to make some sounds...although
the sub (can't remember the #, someone will chime in with it) doesn't have
very good h.f. performance.

Many good resources on the web, in case you're not already aware of them. A
good place to start is he http://trans-oceanic.fortunecity.net/index.html

What are you saying Barry? It's worth $6.00 {?} ;-P

Yeah, I'd give you $6 for it!
Sounds like you're going to have some fun with it. I'm finishing up a
restoration on a Zenith Transoceanic H-500. Stripped and recovered the

cabinet
and am working on getting the electronics done. Unfortunately, this one

didn't
have the expensive 1L6 that it really needs to work properly.

Have fun,

Barry - N4BUQ

PU one of these for three dollars at a yard sale yesterday. It's model
#6-G-601-M, has a 'sailing ship' sewn into the cloth grill over the
speaker.

It's just AM but what the hey, I saw one on ebay. Any one in here ever own
one and can tell me about the performance, I've googled all night. One guy
said "it's could really pu those signals"..but that is just one persons
opinion.

It has a real cool looking 'Wave Magnet' in the back that is connected to
the radio, pretty wild looking IMO...lol....anyone have any idea as to the
year it was made or a link you can throw my way?

It'd be appreciated. :-)

These were made just after WW2. I have one here that I am restoring that was
made in 1946. In complete, but non working condition, they are worth $10-15, in
working condx $30-$60. It is my understanding that they worked very good, I'll
let the group know when I get mine operational.
