Default Tektronix SUCKS!!!!!

John,

Unfortunately, yes, it is in Beaverton, close to the main Tek factory. I
have heard rumors over the years of their being branches elsewhere, but have
not been able to substantiate them (until a few years ago, I was a
Portlander). The thing is, Tek really doesn't have that sort of power to
require retailers to destroy Tek scopes that are traded in. I don't think it
would even be a legal requirement, since that would be basically stealing
from someone (whether the customer or the retailer). I'm sure that used Tek
scopes (and other equipment) will be around on the market for a very long
time to come.

Take care, and stay well.

Thanks for your reply regarding Tektronix. Since I'm in the market for a

good
scope, please tell me about the Tek Country Store. I hope it isn't in
Beaverton.

Tek sucks for MANY reasons!

Tek is a ****ty company. Worked there myself.
****ty management, too. If you go back far enough
it was a good place.
I got the propaganda and it doesn't change a thing.

Actually exray you're the one who needs to check his fly.

Check your fly, Fred. Something ridiculous is hanging out.
I've never heard anybody say Tek was a "bad" company or made bad gear.
Tempramental, maybe, but not bad. But this day in time (since the book
came out) big corporations aren't run by the good guys like Warren K....

Did they actually pull off that deal with GTE for service.
I was there training some of those ****ers.

Could it be they don't want to do anymore service, perhaps it cheaper just
to replace those new off seas plastic cheap ones one under warrantee.
I called them about a Tek 2232 and someone on the other end got all ****ed

If they were giving less trade in than market value would be, then you could
just sell it yourself. Otherwise, its theirs after the trade

After reading your posts in this thread, I suspect you are miffed cause you got
caught doing nothing when the competition picked up and they canned you.

It's bad to trash a good used O-scope, but how about this?

There was a big music store around Pittsburgh that sold electronic organs. Big
ones, with a lot of sales to churches. When they made a sale to a church, they
promised to haul away the old pipe organ. Well, the first thing they would do
is put an axe thru all the pipes and mechnaisms of that pipe organ, rather than
have some other church use it to fix up their "obsolete" pipe organ, rather
than buy a new electronic job from you-know-who.

The amount of craftsmanship and fine handiwork in even a mediocre small pipe
organ is equal to a pallet load of R390As. --Mike K.

They even advertise, The New HP!

IIRC HP broke into several different companies - the one that makes
computers absorbed Compaq (or was it the other way around) and the
one that makes printer stuff is the "new HP".

The one that made (from the start) and still makes some of the best
test equipment now has a new name.

It shudd'a been the other way around.
