Looking for AM transmitters of the type used for broadcasting. Want something in the 500 to 2000 Watt range. Must be all solid state. Typical examples include: Harris SX-1A, Gates One, Armstrong 1000B, Omnitronix AM 1000A, etc. These may not be "vintage boat anchors" yet, but perhaps they can be found associated with such gear. I suspect the best place to find one may be at radio stations who are surplusing gear. Could use some advice on how to contact them. Any ideas will be appreciated. Please reply online as my Google email address is no longer valid. Vinton Vinton, I suggest you place an ad in Broadcasting, and/or the other trade magazines, but please keep in mind that type-approved transmitters are intended for commercial use, and are priced accordingly. Unless you find a bankruptcy auction and you have enough cash to compete with other broadcasters, you will do better looking for older Ham gear. HTH.
