A Facebook gateway is now available for both ba.broadcast.moderated
and rec.radio.broadcasting. On your Facebook account, the gateway provides links on your Facebook news feed to ba.broadcast.moderated or rec.radio.broadcasting articles that are available on Google Groups. All you have to do is "Like" the appropriate page for the newsgroup that you want information about. For ba.broadcast.moderated, look for Ba.broadcast.moderated (Usenet Newsgroup). For rec.radio.broadcasting, look for Rec.radio.broadcasting (Usenet Newsgroup). The initial capital letter is a quirk of Facebook. You can also suggest the page to your friends through the usual Facebook methods. It should be noted that what appears on the Facebook page is links to Google Groups. You'll still have to go to Google Groups (or to your regular newsreader) to see the actual articles. This is a notification feed only. Still, it might be a useful way to introduce the newsgroups to those not familiar to Usenet by using technology that might be more familiar to them (Facebook). Instead of doing the sometimes hard work of convincing folks to sign up for news access, or to check Google Groups, all you have to do is invite them to the Facebook page. To summarize, if you want to use this gateway, all you have to do is "Like" one or both of these pages: Ba.broadcast.moderated (Usenet Newsgroup) Rec.radio.broadcasting (Usenet Newsgroup) Many thanks to Paul Schleck, our Usenet technical consultant, for setting up this feature! Thank you, The ba.broadcast.moderated/rec.radio.broadcasting moderation team -- |
