Sometimes a unique radio brand may be too much for a marketplace. A perfect
example of that is Northeast Broadcastings 92.5 KDAD Bar Nunn/Casper WY,
which rebranded earlier this week from Buckin 92 to New Country 92.5. While
the Buckin branding fits in with the popularity of rodeo in Wyoming the
rhyming clearly would cause some problems for some conservative listeners.
The shift to a simple New Country identity makes the station more friendly
to female listeners and clearly describes what the station is.

WHNN Saginaw Flips To AC

Cumulus Classic Hits 96.1 WHNN Bay City/Saginaw MI will flip to AC at
5:00pm today. To be rebranded as My 96.1, the new format will be positioned
as The Best Variety of Yesterday and Today. Exiting with the format change
are morning hosts Johnny Burke and Blondie. The rest of the airstaff
including midday host Bob Moore, OM/Afternoon Host Scott Stine and night
host Craig Allen remain. WHNN has had an Oldies/Classic Hits format since
1990. The new format will place the station between McDonald Garber
Broadcastings Soft AC The Bay 104.1 WSAG and Digity Media Hot AC Mix 106.3

Station Sales Week Of 1/15: iHeart Is A Rare Buyer

Station Sales iHeartMedia has not been an outright buyer of a station in
quite some time. That changed this weeks as the company purchased Hot AC
92.9 The Boss KOLT-FM Warren AFB/Cheyenne WY from Valley Bank And Trust for
$500,000. The bank has owned KOLT-FM since former owner Joli Lofstedts
Tracy Broadcasting Company defaulted on a loan in 2014. KOLT-FM will become
iHearts third FM in the Cheyenne market joining Big Country 97.9 KXBG
Cheyenne and Country 100.7 KOLT-FM KOLZ. The Moody Bible Institute is
purchasing Classic Country 1200 WAMB Nashville TN and its two translators
from Great Southern Broadcasting

Mark Schlereth Joins KKFN Morning Show

Bonneville Sports 104.3 The Fan KKFN Denver has announced former Denver
Bronco and ESPN analyst Mark Schlereth will become co-host of the stations
morning show with Mike Evans starting Monday, January 25. Schlereth
co-hosted the evening show on ESPN Radio with Jorge Sedano until his exit
last March. The 12 year NFL pro still contributes to the networks
television coverage of the NFL and previously was part of the KKFN
afternoon show. Schlereth fills the spot vacated by former Program Director
Nate Lundy upon his exit last August. Sports Radio 104.3 The Fan (KKFN-FM)
Program Director Armen Williams announced today

Rich Broadcasting Adds Three To KID Network

Rich Broadcasting has added three more signals to News/Talk 590 KID Idaho
Falls/92.1 KIDG Pocatello ID. 106.3 KQEZ Rexburg/Idaho Falls has dropped
its Soft AC EZ Rock Radio format to simulcast KID under new KIDJ call
letters. Additionally the former ESPN 1340 KSGT/96.3 K242BU Jackson WY will
bring the format to the Jackson Hole market. KID features a local morning
show hosted by Neal Larson, who doubles as Program Director for the
station. The rest of the day includes syndicated talkers including Rush
Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and Michael Savage. Not indicated in
the release is what Rich Broadcasting

Radio-One Adds Rickey Smiley In Four Markets

Radio-One has inserted the Rickey Smiley Morning Show on their Hip-Hop
stations in four more markets. Smiley adds clearances at 92.7 The Block
WQNC Charlotte, 101.1 The Wiz WIZF Cincinnati, Hot 96.3 WHHH Indianapolis,
and K97.5 WQOK Raleigh. WQNC had been jockless in mornings since its launch
last summer, while the other three stations drop Russ Parr. Smiley had been
airing in Charlotte on Core Communicators Streetz 103.3 1370 WGIV/W277CB
until the end of 2015. Both Parr and Smiley are syndicated by Radio-Ones
Reach Media. Smiley now airs on eleven Radio-One owned stations, while Parr
will only be on Urban

Pittsburgh Public Media Acquires WZUM

Pittsburgh Public Media has acquired Rhythmic Oldies 1550 WZUM
Braddock/Pittsburgh PA from AM Guys LLC for $75,000. WZUM will add the
Pittsburgh Jazz Channel programming originating at soon-to-be sister 88.1
WYZR Bethany WV, which covers the western side of the Pittsburgh metro.
Pittsburgh Public Media was founded in 2011 following the sale of 90.5 WDUQ
to Essential Public Media to return the Jazz format to the market. PPM
President Chuck Leavens served as Chief Engineer and host on WDUQ prior to
its sale. The non-profit intends to use the upcoming 250 mile AM translator
waiver period to acquire an FM

Kenny Jay Named PD At KMPS Seattle

Program Director Kenny Jay is moving from CBS Country Buzn 102.9 KMNB
Minneapolis to sister 94.1 KMPS Seattle. Jay fills the hole vacant since Ed
Hill exited in April 2015. He has been with CBS since 2012 as APD and later
PD of KMNB and has previously programmed in Savannah, Madison, and La
Crosse WI. Carey Curelop, the CBS Seattle VP of Programming who has been
handling the day-to-day programming at KMPS since last April, will return
to focusing on Classic Rock 102.5 KZOK. Jays duties at KMNB will be
