WKWS Flips To Classic Country

Posted: 21 Oct 2016 11:35 AM PDT
https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...oes-all-garth/

After a week of stunting with nonstop Garth Brooks, West Virginia Radio
Corporation Country 96.1 The Wolf WKWS Charleston WV flipped to Classic
Country 96.1 KWS at 7:00 this morning.

The newly positioned Superstar Country is focusing on Country hits from
1985-2005 while stretching a bit in both directions. WKWS 1pm hour today
consisted of:

Neal McCoy The Shake

James Otto Just Got Started Lovin You

The Judds Mama Shes Crazy

Eddie Rabbit I Love A Rainy Night

John Michael Montgomery Sold

Pam Tillis Maybe It Was Memphis

Keith Urban Days Go By

Randy Travis Better Class of Losers

Dixie Chicks Landslide

Jerry Reed East Bound and Down

George Strait Heartland

Tim McGraw Please Remember Me

Patty Loveless Blame It On Your Heart

Kenny Chesney Big Star

Alan Jackson Midnight In Montgomery

Original Report 10/17: West Virginia Radio Corporation Country 96.1 The
Wolf WKWS Charleston WV has gone all Garth Brooks as 96.1 The Garth.

The stunt comes as Brooks prepares for three concerts in Charleston this
weekend. However more changes may be on the way for the station following
the stunt. The airstaff has been removed from the stations website as
morning host Kidd Conley jumped to afternoons at Bristol Broadcastings 97.5
WQBE and co-host Miss Amanda moved to sister Rhythmic CHR 98.7 The Beat
WRVZ.

WV Radio Corporation has registered multiple domains for potential use at
WKWS in recent weeks. 961KWS.com and 961TheGarth.com were registered
simultaneously last week, while anonymous registrations for 961Sky.com,
961SkyFM.com, Sky961.com, and TheNewSky961.com made in July match the
Classic Hits brand launched by the company last month on 106.5 WWLW
Clarksburg.

In the Spring 2016 Nielsen Audio ratings WKWS ranked sixth in the
Charleston market with a 5.9 share, but that placed it well behind Bristol
Broadcastings market leading 97.5 WQBEs 16.4 share.

WIP Sets New Midday Show With Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie

Posted: 20 Oct 2016 02:37 PM PDT
https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...d-jon-ritchie/

CBS Radio Sports 94.1 WIP Philadelphia will debut a new midday show on
Monday, October 24 with Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie.

DeCamara joins WIP from Greater Medias 97.5 The Fanatic WPEN-FM where he
was hosting nights. Ritchie spent seven years in the NFL as a fullback
including two with the Philadelphia Eagles. He currently also serves as a
fantasy football analyst for DirecTV after spending time at ESPN and NBC
Sports Network and recently ran for the Pennsylvania state senate.

DeCamara and Ritchie will replace Michael Barkann and Ike Reese in middays.
Barkann exits the station, while Reese will be part of the reconstituted
afternoon show to be announced in the coming weeks.

CBS RADIO’S SportsRadio 94WIP today announced the team of Joe DeCamara and
Jon Ritchie as the station’s new midday show. DeCamara and Ritchie will
broadcast the program weekdays from 10am-2pm beginning Monday, October
24. The show can be heard on-air, online at CBSPhilly.com and by
downloading the Radio.com app for mobile devices.

“We are thrilled to add this new show featuring Joe and Jon,” said David
Yadgaroff, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, CBS RADIO
Philadelphia. “As a player, Jon Ritchie embodied the hard-working nature
of our fine city. As a host, he will connect with the fans and share their
passion for our local teams. Joe has proven himself to be a strong voice
for the Philadelphia fans. We are excited to have them.”

DeCamara said, “I’m extremely excited to join WIP and CBS Radio. With
Jon’s background as an Eagles’ player and talk show host paired with my
on-air experience and passion for the Philadelphia sports teams from as far
back as I can remember, we’ll provide an entertaining show while connecting
with the audience. I look forward to Monday morning when Jon and I can get
started.”

Added Ritchie, “WIP defines sports radio to me, and Philadelphia defines
passion. I’m foaming at the mouth because this is a gigantic opportunity to
drop truth-bombs on a savvy fan base who appreciates brutal honesty.”

DeCamara and Ritchie will provide WIP listeners with the best Eagles
coverage and talk throughout the season. The show will feature DeCamara’s
in depth knowledge and passion for Philadelphia sports, and Jon Ritchie’s
analysis from his experience with the Eagles, as well as his years of
analysis on TV and radio. With DeCamara born and raised in the Philadelphia
area, and Ritchie playing in Philadelphia, the show will have a genuine
Philadelphia feel and sound.

Joe DeCamara is a sports talk show host with 16 years of on-air experience
in the Philadelphia market. He began in the radio industry in 2001 at
1490-AM WBCB and most recently hosted an evening show on 97.5-FM The
Fanatic. DeCamara has also hosted nationally syndicated shows for ESPN
Radio and appeared on various TV stations both locally and nationally.
He’s a 1996 graduate of St. Joseph’s Preparatory School and a 2000 graduate
of Fairfield University in Connecticut.

Jon Ritchie is a veteran of seven NFL seasons, split between the Oakland
Raiders (1998-02) and the Philadelphia Eagles (2003-04), appearing in 94
regular-season and 9 playoff games during his NFL career. He started for 2
seasons in Philadelphia with the Eagles. He is a native of Mechanicsburg,
Pa.

Following his retirement, Ritchie entered the broadcasting arena, providing
analysis as a commentator on ESPN’s Outside the Lines, ESPN’s First Take,
NFL 32, College Football Overdrive, and SportsNation. He was the co-host on
the Artie Lange Show on DirecTV, as well as on-air talent for NBC Sports
Network’s Pro Football Talk and Fantasy Football Live.

Currently, Ritchie is on-air all day Sundays during the NFL season, as the
color commentator for DirecTV’s Fantasy Zone Channel, part of their NFL
Sunday Ticket.

WIP will make an announcement regarding a new afternoon show in the coming
weeks, which will include Ike Reese, who remains with the station.
