iHeart To Launch 93.7 The River Sacramento

From RadioInsight

iHeartMedia will be dropping Variety Hits on 93.7 Jack-FM KQJK
Roseville/Sacramento CA in favor of some form of Rock as 93.7 The River in
early April.

As announced in a meeting to the staff today, the new format will feature
an on-air lineup of names familiar to the market and all recently working
at Entercoms cluster. The Dog and Joe Show hosted by Craig The Dog Faced
Boy and Joe Maumee and until recently in afternoons at Active Rock 98 Rock
98.5 KRXQ will host mornings. Monica Lowe, longtime DJ at 100.5 KQPT/KZZO,
and for the past eight years working in Creative Services for Entercom
Sacramento will host middays. Derek Moore, former night host at Classic
Rock Eagle 96.9 KSEG and APD at Sports ESPN 1320 KCTC, will host afternoons
and serve as Digital Program Director for iHeartMedia Sacramento. The
syndicated Sixx Sense will be heard at night.

KQJK ranked twelfth in the Sacramento market with a 3.2 share in the
February 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings. The new format will position it up
against Entercoms combo of Classic Rock KSEG with its 7.5 share and Rock
KRXQ with its 4.1 share. The addition of former Entercom staff should not
come as a surprise as iHeartMedia Sacramento SVP/Programming Curtiss
Johnson previously spent two decades programming the aforementioned KRXQ
and KSEG.

What talent! Im so excited to be on @937theriver on afternoon drive, 3-7p.
@DogandJoeShow mornings, Monica Lowe, middays. More later.

102.1 The Sound Launches In Savannah

From RadioInsight

Cumulus Media has flipped Country 102.1 Nash Icon WZAT Savannah to Hot AC
102.1 The Sound after stunting with songs featuring Sound in the title.

Positioning itself between iHeartMedia CHR 97.3 Kiss-FM WAEV and AC 98.7
The River WYKZ, the move brings the frequency close to its longtime
heritage as CHR Z102. The syndicated Bert Show will be added for mornings.

Since losing its position as the dominant CHR to WAEV in the early 2000s
and flipping to Hot AC in 2008, WZAT has jumped from one low-rated Cumulus
initiative to another. It flipped to Sports in 2010 and was one of the
original Nash Icon stations upon that launch in 2014.

From RadioInsight

After exiting Alpha Media Country 98.7 The Bull KUPL Portland last week,
the artist now fomerly known as Chunky is joining Beasley Classic Hip-Hop

Returning to the on-air name Big Boy that he used while working at nights
at iHeartMedia CHR Channel 95.5 WKQI Detroit from 2006 through 2009, he
will join current WMGC morning host Shay Shay for Big Boy In The Morning.
He used the Big Boy name early in his career at WNKS Charlotte, KZMG Boise,
and WHBQ-FM Memphis prior to working in Detroit. After exiting WKQI in 2009
to join CBS CHR 92.3 Now WNOW-FM New York for nights he was rebilled as
Chunky and then went on to host mornings at XHTZ San Diego, WRDW-FM
Philadelphia, and KUPL Portland.

Beasley’s 105.1 The Bounce is growing again, starting Monday, March 27th at
6 a.m.! Our newest addition will join “Shay Shay” to anchor every weekday
morning. He has a very familiar name to Detroit. The Bounce is proud to
welcome Big Boy:

Big Boy has been blessed to be able to talk on the radio for a living since
he was 17 years old. Its not only what he LOVES doing, its whats in his
blood. He’s had the privilege to travel to many cities to host radio shows,
but whenever people ask what his FAVORITE city was, he ALWAYS says
“Detroit!” His previous three years in Detroit from 2006-2009 were some of
the best years of his life. He met so many people who listened to his show.
When he got the opportunity to come back and host the morning show on THE
BOUNCE, he JUMPED at this opportunity! “Not only are the city and the
people here amazing, but THE BOUNCE literally plays my favorite songs!” Big
Boy loves the music and enjoys listening to the station on his “off” time,
as well as his “on” time.

Im SO excited to be working with Big Boy!” said 105.1 The Bounce Morning
host Shay Shay. “We worked together earlier in our careers and had such
great chemistry. Hes an amazing talent and I cant wait to wake up Detroit
every morning with an innovative, engaging and entertaining morning show!

Detroit’s new station specializing in Throwback Hip Hop and R B began
rolling out our on air “Ambassadors” in December of 2016, mixing long time
area radio favorites with a few new names who have moved to our city.

“This is a BIG THROWBACK to “good times” for our city!” added 105.1 The
Bounce Program Director Al Payne. “I have been a huge fan of BIG BOY for a
long time, yet being able to add him to this station and our cast of Bounce
Ambassadors is EPIC! Out of everywhere he’s been, he says that there’s no
love like DETROIT LOVE! If you partied with Big Boy from ’06 to ‘09wait
‘til you hear him and Shay Shay now!”

Third Time Could Be The Charm For Bob 100.1 Pasco

Posted: 23 Mar 2017 03:40 PM PDT
http://radioinsight.com/headlines/11...b-100-1-pasco/

From RadioInsight

For the third time since it moved from 93.7 to 100.1 last year, Alexandra
Communications has a new format on 100.1 KQFO Pasco WA.

KQFO has dropped its three-month old Classic Rock Oz 100.1 identity for
Variety Hits as Bob 100.1. The station was previously AAA Oasis 100.1 from
February through December 2016.

Despite what the Envision Networks press release below and other sites
state, KQFO serves the Tri-Cities of Kennewick/Richland/Pasco and not
Yakima.

Envision Networks® and Kroeger Media Inc. are excited to welcome Alexandra
Communications, Inc.’s KQFO-FM/Yakima as the latest station to join the BOB
FM™ family. With the launch of BOB 100.1, the station joins over 125
affiliates on the Envision 24/7 Network.

You may know BOB FM™ as the original template from which the entire “name”
formats originated including BOB’s little brothers HANK FM® and DUKE FM®,
the country variety-based format that is also syndicated by Envision Radio
Networks®. BOB FM™ was the first Variety/Adult Hits based format of its
kind to launch in North America.

With a song library consisting of over 1100 titles that is made up of rock,
pop and adult contemporary music, BOB’s unique mix is best described as one
big mix tape for adult listeners who are too young to be considered
full-fledged baby boomers and too old to be considered as part of
generation X. Beyond the music, the BOB FM™ brand is known for its out of
the box presentation where the station becomes a personality and listeners
are on a first name basis with their favorite radio station.

BOB FM™ offers three levels of programming service for both cash and barter
and accommodates stations that are looking for a complete turnkey, 24/7
solution.
