![]() There was a WKRP-AM in Atlanta for a short time in the 70's, designed specifically to cash in on the TV show's popularity. The stars of the show were invited to appear on the station's first day of broadcasting but none showed. The FCC denied the calls until someone pointed out that MTM Productions was not an actual licensee. The first record played on the new station came up at the wrong speed. Potential advertisers thought it was a joke. It was a daytime- only station with all sorts of signal problems. As I recall, it lasted less than a year. Makes me wonder if there was a KRAP somewhere out west. Not currently on the FCC lists, but a sort of related call with a history of its own is. There's a WKRP-LP (TV) licensed to Washington DC. W-KRaP? Wonder if the TV show producers saw it that way. Why anyone with a real station would WANT those calls is also a different matter. Who has KCUF?
