Does anyone know anything about the Optimod 8000A...?

It's a multiband compressor combined with a multiplex stereo generator.

Anyone still use it ...?

Some stations still do. If you aren't hitting it hard, it's fine for a
station that isn't trying for extreme loudness. The 8100 gives a little
bit better modulation but not by all that much.

Can it be used for recording...?

Not really, because the output is a multiplex composite signal.

Ruff....value these days....?

I dunno, call one of the used equipment brokers. Harris-Allied's guys
always have some in stock. They are pretty common.
