LRN Responds To Westwood Suit

On Wednesday evening Local Radio Networks issued a statement regarding the
patent infringement suit filed by Westwood One. The company says
the "claims are legally and factually baseless and intends to vigorously
defend against those claims."

The suit was filed on March 2. Westwood One claims Local Radio Networks
infringed on patent numbers 7,860,448 (Methods and Computer Programs for
Localizing Broadcast Content) and 7,412,203 (Systems, Methods and Apparatus
for Operating a Broadcast Network).

Broadcasters airing music in the GMR PRO library were notified this week
that they'd have to pay 20% more for that music as of April 1. Current
licensing agreements expire on March 31st. The new deal, if you choose to
accept it, is for 9 months.

John Spataro has been promoted to lead operations of the Illinois Radio
Network. The network is a news, sports andÂ*information service created with
radio in mind, to provide content to affiliates across the state. Spataro
was the affiliate and Sales Manager​​ before being promoted.

Kristy Beebe has been named Market President for iHeartMedia Indianapolis
replacing Brett Beshore. The Circle City market is made up of five stations
comprised ofÂ*Classic Rock, Alternative, Hip Hop and RB, Sports and Business
News.

Jingle Pro Phelps Helps Benztown

Jingle creator and producer Jason Phelps and Benztown have worked out an
agreement. Phelps will lead commercial audio production and voice talent
for Benztown partner Yamanair Creative’s radio station clients.
