In 1940 Winston Churchill established clandestine war - the SOE - to "set
Europe ablaze". On this 60th anniversary of the war ending, Ralph Barrett, G2FQS, describes the courage, activities and apparatus of SOE agents in enemy territory. Because of monitoring, wireless operators were in particular danger. His presentation takes place at 12.00 noon on Saturday. 5 March at Station X, Bletchley Park, 50 miles from London. A live radio transmission will be demonstrated using SOE equipment. There is no charge for the lecture but there is an admission charge to Station X, which is open from 10.30am to 5.00pm. A guided tour is included. It is not necessary to book tickets in advance. http://www.rsgb.org/news/gb2rs.htm |
