+++ Cheers James, but where am I missing something when you say
stainless +++ steel rusts? Wouldn't brass oxidize in a salt
environment? Besides what +++ I am reffering to is the nuts/bolts
holding the kit together. An +++ observant operator will inspect his
kit yearly and make adjustments +++ accordingly.

+++Stainless is usually adequate for one antenna lifetime here in Ohio.
Dunno +++much about antenna hardware life down by the sharks and such.

Next to the coast here in Florida, I have seen SS start rusting in
less than a year. Also, I used to own a boat and after a year or two,
every piece of SS on the boat was replaced with chrome plated brass.

Dang, that seems fairly quick but I don't doubt it. Thankfully we only get
big snow here, no salt waters except what sprays up from the salted parking
lots and roads in the winter travels on your vehicle.

Isn't copper as soft as your dick after you're done ****ing tho? I can't
imagine it as a mounting hardware.

There are different grades of Stainless Steel. Contrary to most
people's belief, not all SS has excellent corrosion resistance to salt
environments. Grade 304, w hich is very common and cheap, is not very
resistant to salt corrosion. Grade 316 is. It also is more costlier.
Chrome plated brass and non plated brass is cheaper than 316 SS in
most cases.
