Peter... I was just out at your site. I suggest you update your page http://www.citizensband.radiouk.com/...ics/solder.php to comply with RoHS. After all you are part of the European directive. You better get with the program... Is your product RoHS compliant, to the requirements of the UK? Oh, wait a minute... SSM2188S is not RoHS compliant. Is that not the part you use? Does that not make your product illegal to place on the market within the United Kingdom? You had better check all the parts used in manufacture. Dealers could be extremely unhappy if they found their stock seized and used as evidence before being destroyed. But it may not quite be that bad, Trading Standards often offer the chance to disown the items, allowing them to just go straight to the destruction stage. As you were so keen to ensure my Web site met the standards, I am sure that you would want to be sure of the legal position of your product. In case you wondered, according to UK law, Lou's speech processor is exempt but your VoiceMax must comply with the regulations. I suspect that, if any non-compliant products have been sold, those "in the field" would need to be recalled. That could be quite embarassing. Regards, Peter. |
