Do you have a good tube source, Frank?

Depends on what kind of tube you are looking for. The station gets their
big tubes directly from the manufacturer. For standard consumer tubes, I
don't like buying them mail-order because they cost too much, and many
times are used (low emission) and the pins are just buffed up to make
them look new. I highly recommend getting a tube tester and start
hoarding them from wherever you can find them, usually at garage sales
and thrift shops. A couple months ago I went to a yard sale and got an
old reel-2-reel that they just gave away because it was old and ugly.
Inside were a half-dozen Telefunken 12AX7s and several other goodies. The
tubes are out there, you just have to know how they are packaged.

Good advice. Lucky for me I have two friends who do just that, but
you never know when you'll need to find another supply.

These guys are a real trip. If you ever need something, let me know
and I'll see.

How about a 100W ultra-linear output transformer (Acrosound TO-350 or
equivalent)?

No, it's a transformer, but it's for a tube amplifier.

Ok. I'll see one of them Friday, I should ask for a Acrosound TO-350 or

Right-o! If I can't find one I'll have to wind one myself, a project which I
don't think I will enjoy too much.

Ok, I hope the crazy ******* has one or two of them. It may take him
a little while to find it, his organization/inventory skills leave
a little to be desired.

What's it worth to you? ( he's gonna ask before he looks)
