I believe the red wire provides power to the radio for
receive/transmit, the orange provides power to the memory so the
channel doesn't reset when the car is turned off. Normally, you'd
hook the radio power lead to a switchable power tap (acc circuit) and
the memory lead will be connected to a continous (non-switched, or
"batt") power tap...
