Oh, dear God, no! That's worse than the connector conspiracy[1] that we
have now. Ask any computer network geek about broken RJ45s and trying to
get those to stay in the wall. The stupid little plastic prong always
breaks.

The mic on my radio burned out a few weeks ago out of nowhere, and Radio
Shack has no replacement for the 5-pin DIN connector mike, which is ironic
since they sell radios that require such a mike.

resolved the connector conspiracy with USB, it's time for radio to do
something similar.
