Leland:
Let's hope not! Let us hope that shortly when CW only proves to be an annoyance to the CB'er attempting to get smokey reports and exercise their roger beep and echo mics--that they will mount a campaign to have CW banned from HF so it doesn't interfere with data communications and voice! BTW, I got my ticket to General. Do you know how many times I have used code? ZERO. I have already forgotten the alphabet. You know that was one of the points the FCC mentioned in it's NPRM, the frequency that Hams learn the code and then never use it, as one point in their decision to drop Morse testing completely. I still hear it on 10 meters. They should test for it if you want CW privilages. There is no need to have any test for CW. The use of it will stand or fall on it's own merits without any artificial boost due to testing requirements. CW will never die out completely, like classic cars, somebody will always have an interest in it. Regards, Leland C. Scott KC8LDO Vinnie S. |
