Why isn't this available on a website?

BTW, I got my ticket to General. Do you know how many times I have used code?
ZERO. I have already forgotten the alphabet.

Well, I'll be pulling my Hallicrafters HA-1 TO keyer out of the attic.

Ain't much slang at 40 words per minute cw :)

Which is legal anywhere in the ham bands (with the appropriate license)
other than 60 meters. :))

And the am kilowatt stations never could bother my 75 watts on cw then, and
they couldn't touch 100 watts of cw now. :)))

They tried - and failed.

Best regards from Rochester, NY

You need to get to about 13 words per minute minimum before you'll always
remember it.

I was running around 50 words per minute when I hung up my guns around 1969.
In 1993, I simply retested with no brush up. Hadn't copied cw since 1969
yet passed 20 words per minute ;)

Hello, Twist

Actually, the guy who tried and failed was a known troublemaker and was a
class A operator. This was back in the 60s and he had an advanced ticket
that may have no longer been issued. They did have extra classes then, but
no one paid attention to it. Once you had the general, you had everything.

When they were going to implement "incentive licensing", I went for my extra
and, as long as I had to be at the FCC, I obtained my telegraph ticket too.

Not a big deal about cw. If one likes it, great; if not, so be it. But it
is so much fun to get into these threads :)))

I love the way you say something in a nice way that gets some folks panties
all knotted up - then you go fishing for a weekend (or a week) whilst the
group flames away.

Dang, I've gotta buy some stock in blood pressure medication when you send
some notes. It is funny. Just like Mike got so hot about me enjoying

Better give more tax breaks on the SUVs. Better include yachts over 33

I agree. Also, the tester said they use the ARRL practice tapes for the exam. So
if you have the tapes, and you can learn the alphabet, you can pick up fairly
quickly which if the practice codes they use. That is what I did. I studied
every night for a month.

They should require CW for CW privilages, at the 13 WPM.

Some of them red states are howling, like SC. I gotta give them credit

irritated me that the only plane allowed to fly

relatives of Bin Laden. I *almost* thought the

way Farenheit 911 was portraying it, but then

You ever notice people talk about how fat or something Moore is, but
never, NEVER attack a single point he made? Like, are they saying the
Bin Laden's really didn't leave the country right after 911 with a
government escort when ALL other flights were grounded?
Or the Saudi's really DON'T own up to 900 BILLION worth of America and
really DIDN'T invest heavily in ALL the Bush private ventures before he
became President? Or that Bush really didn't have lunch with the Saudi
Ambassador on the 13th of Sept, 2001? WTF,,,wasn't it the Saudis that
attacked us? Why, yes,,yes it was. 10 of the hijackers were Saudi (did
Moore even make that point?) .
Perhaps there is one Moore basher among us who maintains Cheney's
private companies DIDN'T benefit or profit from invading Iraq?
Or that Intel WASN'T crafted from policy?
And perhaps there is even one of those Bush-backers reading this that
believe since Bush mentioned "911" and "Iraq" in the same sentence no
less than 400 times over the past three years, there is truth by
repetition.

If you or I were president at that time and we

Sure,,,and here's a poor man's way of doing what the rich man is doing.
Buy the object of your desire and put it ALL on credit. Even if you make
the MINIMUM payment due, a portion of it is deductible. Of course, the
more you pay for it, the more you write off. Oh yea, don't forget to put
it in your "company's" name for it all. What's that? Don't have a
company? Sure you do. You were in the miitary, right? You are now a
"Consultant". Take out an ad and reap the fun. You don't even need show
a profit. Enjoy it. It's not like YOU have to pay for it when the bill
comes in. Take a loss on your "business" and do what the current admin
is doing...make the next three/twenty generations pay for it. Enjoy.

Hahaha..I agree. IQ test, I think many here would pass,,sanity test, I
think many of us would fail! For crying out loud, look what we talk
about. I think Frank had it right, though, a while back. We all know
there are no egos in radio, so many of us couldn't possibly tune in just
for the challenge and/or stimulation.
Ya' know what's really funny? The folks that have posted in here. We
have had some real names posting here over the years. I can think of
three household names right off the bat. If some of the folks knew who
they were exchanging banter with some of the time, they wouldn't believe
it. At the least, they'd print out their exchanges with those folks and
frame it.

Ahhh, a homo,

Don't get so excited and you won't embarrass yourself so.

thought so, go play with the "other boys..."

John

If your mother taught you better and how to properly address others, you
wouldn't have such issues.

John Smith July 23rd 05 12:17 AM

Actually, my mother taught me to ignore fools and not address them at
all...

....afraid I ignore her teachings and address you at my own peril...

Either way, I feel your past mental history and frequent confinements
to mental institutions and dependence on psychiatric drugs (which are
not working) should be a barrier to you being issued a license...

Now there ya go!!!
Don't let those dern buggers CW unless they know how!!!
In fact, we should make'em pass an IQ test before we let them CW!
grin
John

John,

I'd have no problem with an IQ test. I'm

nowhere near 100. Not even close.

Heaven forbid there were to be a sanity test.

I'd automatically disqualify everyone in the

newsgroups (*especially* myself)!!! :)))

Hahaha..I agree. IQ test, I think many here would pass,,sanity test, I
think many of us would fail! For crying out loud, look what we talk
about. I think Frank had it right, though, a while back. We all know
there are no egos in radio, so many of us couldn't possibly tune in
just
for the challenge and/or stimulation.
Ya' know what's really funny? The folks that have posted in here. We
have had some real names posting here over the years. I can think of
three household names right off the bat. If some of the folks knew who
they were exchanging banter with some of the time, they wouldn't
believe
it. At the least, they'd print out their exchanges with those folks
and
frame it.

John Smith July 23rd 05 12:22 AM

Anger?

You fail to see satire and irony when you read it, you don't recognize
"dry humor?"...

.... you really think I take you as anything more than the silliest of
jokes?

Common guy (or girl, or it), sit down the opium pipe and step away
into the light...

At my college, the "flames" here wouldn't even
make a pimple on a good debaters A$$.

You know nothing of debate, as your posts attest. They are made in
haste
and anger. Your insults should be left at the door. Of course, people
in
college familiar with debate already know this.

Not to be confused with the actual A$$'s here,

Right on cue. Thank you for the brilliance shared.

Yes, I'd say better if you limit your alcohol intake...

Your nature suggests an abusive alcoholic, bet the police records in
your town of residence (both past and present) would tell a story of
long term abuse of women and children...

Yes, it does show...

BTW, I got my ticket to General. Do you know how many times I have used

code?
ZERO. I have already forgotten the alphabet.

You know that was one of the points the FCC mentioned in it's NPRM, the
frequency that Hams learn the code and then never use it, as one point in
their decision to drop Morse testing completely.

Awful, isn't it? Dang, I had just seen a horrible gunfight. I had the
jpg, but sent it to Mopar as I couldn't handle it. It was interesting.
You can ask Mopar for the thing or I can ask him to send it back so I

can
send it to you, but it was really horrific. Not something to show to
women. ( ;) )

Didn't you get it from me?
