Now go sit by the water and in the middle of your conversation, shut off
your linear. I think you may surprise yourself. Ask Lelnad about getting
out when sitting by a lake running a linear.

Naaa, never shut off the cb linear, heck, you think those guys out there are
that stupid and don't suddenly get a clue when you go from 4+ watts out to
hundreds!

Get real!

From 200 to a kw on an omniantenna is not quite such a shock (still, pays to be
tricky)...

Some times the signal doesn't even drop, especially when it's that ld
stuff to Australia. But yea, their are those times where the kicker is
needed.

I don't run power on my base at all. I don't need it on the base. A
visible water horizon and a directional gets 'er done. On the boat, I
can sound like a big strapper with the right power mic. Add a hundred
watts to that and one could damn near shut it down at times.
