HF, I seen you inquiring about one in the equipment group a few weeks ago. That ancient Galaxy? That was actually for a ham friend. I was acting like it was for me, because I would have purchased it for him. He didn't have internet access or ebay account, or something like that. He ended up getting Ameritron AL-80A. Seems this is a good amp. But I know little about HF ham amps. So I inquired about it. Vinnie S. Gotcha, know anything about the DENTRON GLA-1000B? There's one here for $285 plus shipping. http://swap.qth.com/contact.php?counter=506844 Don't know anything about it. The reason I had inquired about that Galaxy, was because the solid state amps were in the neighborhood of $1,000-3,000. So when I inquired about the Galaxy, it was about $200. It took off from there. Luckily, many hams came posted to stay away from that amp. They said there were cheaper alternatives that were better. I think that Ameriton was a single tube radio. Highly recommended by hams. As far as the Dentron, I use this site on eham: http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/1609 There are Hams indivdual reviews, and I find very useful. Vinnie S. |
