I bailed out of regular group reading after that amplifier legal begal nut

It wants to be used on 10 meters! You're too close for F-layer skip. Good luck on sporadic E skip. I've never F skipped closer then 300 miles. Anything closer is E-skip. We've kicked the Brazilians from *BALT* (node 86553). I've been parking my echolink there and lurking. If you drop in later and shout, I might be back. I've got to go drop off an unfudged PC to a customer shortly after 9 tonight. Don't use Limewire or WinMX. These programs are pipelines for virii and spyware straight into your PC. The only fix is to remove the HD, plug it into another machine, scan to remove the crap, then backup the data, then DBAN the drive and reload the OS from scratch. It's now done. At 9, the radio program will be done, I can stop the recording and torrent it later. |

Hey, I'm talking 60 miles barefoot ground-wave on Jay's antenna tonight.
That's stuff is fun. Got some good groundwave going on! Some Tuesday nights I can hear PA and VA. I've even talked into DE from the mobile. 2x455's talk! Other nights, I've got buzzing and static. I've noticed that I hear a certain atmospheric noise before the skip starts. I'm assuming that 10 meter propagation will be very similar to what I've experienced on 11 meters. If so, I'll be killer in 10 meter contests. Hell, I've got 27 years to go on. It's neat that some nights 11 meters carries real well, other nights 2 meters goes real far and I've even had both bands hot one night. I was a DXing fool! Try to say 104 on one radio and KB3xxx on the other! |

Yea the band is really up and down lately here too and I find ground wave more fun than dx, so this is more fun for me than when the band is wide open...you know what I'm talkin' bout Willis. I like the silent hiss and trying to dig a station out of the silence, it's more a test of your gear than bouncing. :) |

Hello Carl:
Is not a problem. Life is GREAT! I am still here and what not, and doing very well. That last tube you sent me was factory fresh, good gain and output power. I have been working my normal job with heavy machinery and the antennas, and working with some local miners (these guys are a riot to work with) keeping there equipment running for them. We have a rf amp that uses a pair of 3CX3000A7 Tubes for a Spectromoter. It analyzes metal and such. Enough said! Yeah that ought to be fired up one day on the local channel. Gee whiz Carl, that handle 2x4 really brings back memories, from days of old. "Getty Up n Go" a old Country & Western Singer, use to have a stacked set of Moonraker 4 Beam Antennas. He use to call em Two By Four now Getty Up n Go..... Hehehehee. That was feed with a Johnson Viking Valiant, driving a the Johnson 1 kW Amp with a pair of 4-400Z Tubes. Getty Up n Go was located in Long Beach California, and could easily be heard in the San Fernando Valley. After one of our Channel 15 CB Breaks, Getty Up n Go would be all tanked up, and then sing and Yodel over his big base station. Not a bad singer at all. Had a audio input for his Gartar also so the audio quality was broadcast quality. Getty Up n Go even took song requests from Truckers running down Grapevine Hill, from Bakersfield running into the San Fernando Valley. Man what great coverage. Hope all is well with you Carl and your family. Jay in the Great Mojave Desert, ....just down the road ah ways from the fillin station. Hello Stevo:
"Fairly Impressive" I held back the best for last! I also Have a 1976 Ford F250 4x4 Hi-Boy, it came from the factory stock with a little lift to the body. So it does sit up higher than normal people trucks. It is a little difficult to get in and out of. But really pays for itself when on a date with a short dress, oh yeah! The Truck has a 96 inch (Modified) Francis Amazer Fiberglass whip antenna, mounted on the cab. Which a fairly large piece of aluminum sheet metal reinforces. With well over thousands and thousands of miles on this buety, it does show it age. But with a 400 HP Big Block you don't mind the gas prices, its a work or art to drive! I have been told when the Red Neck Mobile comes into a 4 way stop, most normal people will gladly allow the Big Green Monster to go before them, even if it aint my turn. Somthing about "This Red Neck Truck Ain't got no insurance or sense" The Yaesu kicks a 8 pill amp, powered by a 150 amp alternator, that will slip the belt and take most cars steroes out within short distance. And put the neddle on the peg for the 1 KW range. Would be nice tho, in the cold rainy desert weather, especially in the early morning if the drivers side had a window! Its a good feeling tho Jay in the Mojave Steveo wrote: Jay in the Mojave wrote: -snip- Getty Up n Go Brings a red neck tear to my eye. Guys would meet at the cb breaks and not to threaten to kick anyones ass just to meet and greet and have fun. |
