Default Digipan 1.7?

Hi,

The WWW.DIGIPAN.NET shows a new version 1.7 is out. However, all 3
links are either bad, or error out. Any help on where to actually
find version 1.7?

I wasn't sure what the exact nature of the catastrophe was.... Maybe
tracking down a final "bug" in the software? The explanation was a little
bit cryptic, to say the least.

I thought that was weird about the PACTOR issue too... They complain about
PACTOR stations - but the new version has recieve-only PACTOR added!

Is PACTOR recieve there for the sole purpose of obtaining the call of
offending PACTOR stations so PSK31 users can whine about them? Personally, I
have NEVER seen the bad behavior by PACTOR ops that the guy complains about,
and I spend a good deal of time either monitoring the digital stuff, or on
the air.

I don't have PACTOR capability here, but know that PACTOR stations perform a
useful purpose for ALL hams, not just for a couple of keyboarders going at
it.

I'll look into it... If these guys are out to harass PACTOR ops, they may
find that they have bitten off more than they can chew. Sounds to me like
they may have that old "we own this bit of spectrum" fantasy going. - But
then again, the web-site I listed is so cryptic that it's hard to tell
exactly WHAT they think they are are saying. It could be something else
altogether.

Hard to say... Anybody have an idea what they are talking about?

Ah! We sure do like to speculate, don't we. It's easy to ask. The email
address is right on their web page.

I forgot to ask, so I won't post his text, but an email to one of the
developers (skip) said it was some printing bug and that he is now on the
air testing the fix. I then asked about Pactor, but haven't gotten the
reply yet.

On the other hand, a competent web-site should be able to stand on its own.
You shouldn't have to E-mail the web-master, asking what the heck the
web-site is supposed to be about.

Granted. After reading the web site I did say "What the HAIL is he
talkn' about", but then, we do like to dramatize, or be cute or clever when
we talk/write, don't we.

On the other hand, After reading the OP I said to myself "What is it
that makes people post critical comments out to the world instead of just
asking the originator what was meant?" Seems like the latter would take
less ink and solve the original problem. If a friend/brother/mother says
something you don't understand, is the accepted response to go to the
neighbor's and do some speculation about what was meant?

Besides, I think DigiPan is a pretty neat piece of work (do we even know
what a Fourier transform is - much less how to program one) that these guys
are providing the Ham community, free of charge and somebody is griping that
the guy isn't an accomplished author. Sheesh! Lighten up folks and enjoy
the fruits of their labour... or write your own.

So there... the pipe & smoke it thing.
