Hi Dan
I dont know the physical location and frequencies of packet digis/nodes in the DFW area. This will be your first step to establishing how possible it is. The "old" method of using a simple digipeat was to suffix your connect command with the digis in sequence. eg C K5YYY v K5DIF1 K5DIG2 K5DIG3 I am sure you can also send in "UI" unproto mode (non connect) but I dont remember the syntax. There are however a few different node systems available nowadays that allow you to use a single destination command that remember how to get there. These might be NETROM, ROSE, THENET and one or two others. You may have to go through a number of iterations like connect to a node, then connect to another "location" then to the end (human) device. I guess however you already know this and simply need to know what devices are available! I have used the node in Tyler once or twice but that is probably out of your range. I dont as a rule keep packet running at my QTH anymore. My interest tends to be soundcard digtial modes on SSB (2M is also good for that) I suggest you lookup club webpages for more details. If you draw a blank get back to me and I'll have a search myself. Cheers Bob W5/VK2YQA East Texas Dan wrote: .... I would also like to get into long distance chatting with users by making use of multiple digipeaters. How can this be accomplished? What do I set my "To" and "Via" fields to? Any information would be great! |
