Default High Voltage 161-kV line from the local Electric Co. QRN? QRM? SK?

I have no experience being close to these lines.
The local elect. company is downing trees now right behind my house.
So this means this dang thing will be about 100 feet from any thing I use.

I was about to buy a new rig and antennas but looks like it may be a
waste of money with this going next door.

Mom passed away Nov. and I have the house now but may be a
waste of time to put up anything.

Have they killed my ham hobby? WHAAAAA!!! Thanks TVA!

They could bump this up to a 500-kV line later I suppose.

OT but never been close to this kind a crap. Any real inputs appreciated.

Last of retirement entertainment turn to crap, I guess.
Wasn't looking for "challenges", wanted relaxation.

Gary K4TWO Clarksville TN @arrl.net too.
