http://oh2aq.kolumbus.com/dxs is one of a number of places to look, you
can use your regular web browser. It's a gateway to a network where
people can report what DX they're hearing on what frequency.

By the way, I concur with the other posters - I'd be pretty sure it was
in fact 3B8CF you were hearing. He's really got a fantastic signal,
showing up in places & at times where nobody else from that part of the
world is around.

Thanks to all for your help and comments!

Never worked a 2B8, 2E at the most.

was 3B8 in the Indian Ocean?

Did you compare your QSO date/time with spots on the cluster?

7005.0 3B8CF 18-Oct-2006 0259Z WB7OJV
7005.1 3B8CF 18-Oct-2006 0236Z N4QS
7005.0 3B8CF 18-Oct-2006 0231Z cq DK2AI
7010.5 3B8CF 17-Oct-2006 0220Z RA3SL

I'm pretty convinced you worked 3B8CF.

He probably did, but he also probably copied the call correctly.
I have worked many guys whom I have copied as 2 or 3 different calls.
Sometimes a fellow gets in a hurry, even with a machine-it got recorded
wrong and they keep sending it.

Especially if they are using a bug...they run the letters together a
lot it seems.

(Oh, oh, I am in trouble now)

Bottom line, if you send a mistake, fix it.

One easy portal to the DX spotting network is the DX Summit site at:

Agreed on the DX Summit site.
It's excellent, DX Summit uses the WorldIRC IRC (Internet Relay Chat)
servers that are located in various locations thoughout the US and EU. (AU
server coming soon).
Of course, I have a vested interest in promoting DX Summit and indeed,
WorldIRC.org, I am the WorldIRC.org Network Administrator
