In order to get to the push buttons you're trying to work on, you have to remove the face panel which swings down from the front of the rig once you remove the necessary screws. You might find it's a little rough going cuz things are pretty tightly packed in there. I've been in there to replace the meter lamp twice in the past 15 years and it's tight. Well, I did remove the front panel, and it was relatively easy to get to the PCB that has the switches. These buggers are a paint to work on, however. They're membrane switches. I carefully lifted the clear mylar, and slowly removed each membrane, and cleaned them off individually. I also cleaned the copper pads on the PCB. I'm taking a break from all of that as I type this... You'd do well to see of you can locate a service manual. It'll make the task easier. I learned the trial and error way to get in there. I have it, it came in the mail today, after I was about 1/2 way into the disassembly... Your comment about the lamp is making me wonder if I should do a preemptive replacement. 73, -jav w6vms |
