G'day,

Looking for specs on this amplifier:

http://img100.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa2modhi7.jpg
http://img484.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa1modzp8.jpg

Don't know much at this stage, apart from 4Watts drive (@ 430-480MHz)=
approx. 150W output, draws well over 30A from my poor struggling power
supply. I'm not game to up the drive any further until I know the specs!

Basically any specs or any info at all would be great, thanks in
advance.

Cheers,

Let's take a wild guess here, you want to use it on the UHf Chook Band to
talk into the 5 w output repeaters, if that's the case, and I do hope I'm
wrong, you'd be better off with a decent antenna system,

WRONG, I plan to cause havoc on the remaining analog police repeaters-
ya idiot. There's more to the UHF band than CB radio you know.

Well don't forget to wear a set of lead lined underpants, ya know what
excess high frequency does to the male reproductive organs :-)

Amazing isn't it - cannot discuss power amplifiers in these
Aussie groups without the usual knee-jerk assumptions, irrespective of
being perfectly within the law to own and use in an appropriate manner.
Apparently no Hams here use amplifiers I guess.

Why bother power amplifier related postings in a CB Radio group then ?
state exactly what your using it for and post in the appropiare group.

Welcome to aus.radio.scanner, please feel free to ask any other questions
that are not related to the topic of the newsgroup.

I'd suggest joining www.batlabs.com and ask on there if you want to know
technical specs, whilst there are some people in this newsgroup who actually
know what they are talking about in relation to the technical side of
Radios. I am not one and there are a large portion of people who response
with smart ass remarks

Been a few years, but looks like a PA out of either a MSR2000 or
MSF5000 repeater. In any case, I'd say you were overdriving it with 4
watts, as indicated by the 150 watts out. Its probably a 100 or 110 watt
amplifer. I believe that most Motorola exciters for such amplifiers
put out either 1 watt or possibly 2 watts.

G'day Ed,

The general consensus is that it did indeed come from an MSF5000, I
started a thread over at batlabs just prior to posting to these groups,
which has paid off somewhat
(see: http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopi...&unwatch=topic )
but now of course there is also some conflicting info in the replies...
info on Motorola gear can be hard to find!

I'll play it safe and keep it below 3W until I get definite confirmation
of the specs being different. Cheers

You might want to learn more about interpreting Usenet headers before
trying and failing to flame in a successful manner. Good luck with
that.

other related groups and vic-versa.

Well, that is Usenet - uncensored and therefore you get the full spectrum
of human behaviour. I have no problem with that to be honest, MUCH more
preferable than censorship or 'moderation'.

Thanks for your suggestion batlabs, I did post a question there on
this matter prior to posting to these groups. I have received a few good
replies, but still seeking those elusive specifications.

Cheers

Just to **** you off, Warren.

state exactly what your using it for and post in the appropiare group.

No. I'm just looking for the specs. That was my query.

Can you define what in your view is an "appropiare" group?
IF you bothered to check the headers, you will see that the OP was
sent to: aus.radio.amateur.misc, aus.radio.cb, aus.radio.scanner,
rec.radio.amateur.equipment

If you believe you know of more "appropiare" groups, or just wish to
drop all pretence and continue developing this into an argument, please
enlighten us all, cheers.

You seem to be the one pushing for an argument, I just can't see why you
would bother posting in CB and Scanner groups, have look here,
http://www.eserviceinfo.com/ there is a lot of Motorola stuff there,

Cheers,
