Someone wrote " Why would anybody put a D104 on an amateur radio?"
Well -- probably tens of thousands of Hams did well before CB and a lot still do. The mic has a rising response at the higher audio end for increased intelligibility. Because you can use the back of the chrome mic as a mirror
to see behind your rig to plug/unplug stuff ! Try talking across the mic not directly into it, makes a nice difference. Plus they look real retro ! Tube type...thats what they were designed for...Yes indeed, and very true.
BUT....the question from the CBer was concerning a FT100. Neither tube type or a boatanchor. Dan/W4NTI "asdf" wrote in message ... N8XYN wrote: Why would anybody put a D104 on an amateur radio? Why not? That's what they were designed for. They vastly pre-date CB. They work well with the old tube rigs (for which they were designed). I've used them with everything from Collins and Drakes to Kenwoods and Icoms...why not??????? |

I use a D-104 on my Icom 706...and with my old Kenwood 430 and with my old Icom 735...they're neither tube-type nor boatanchor. Nor am I a CB'er. What's wrong with that??? |

That's my favorite answer so far! ![]() Of course there's only been one or two answers that actually answered the original question, but I should expect that. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 73! de Andy KC2SSB Beachwood, NJ USA!
