Because you can use the back of the chrome mic as a mirror
to see behind your rig to plug/unplug stuff !

Try talking across the mic not directly into it,
makes a nice difference.

Plus they look real retro !

Well -- probably tens of thousands of Hams did well before CB and a lot
still do.
The mic has a rising response at the higher audio end for increased
