Tube type...thats what they were designed for...Yes indeed, and very true.
BUT....the question from the CBer was concerning a FT100. Neither tube type
or a boatanchor.

Why not?

That's what they were designed for. They vastly pre-date CB. They work

well
with the old tube rigs (for which they were designed). I've used them with
everything from Collins and Drakes to Kenwoods and Icoms...why not???????
