Default BP-84/BP-85 battery pack question.

I was wondering how to take apart either the BP-84 or BP-85
battery pack in older to replace the ni-cad cells. I've tried
the method that I used to use on my older Yaesu battery packs
(freezing them for few days and them lightly tapping them
open) but the Icom packs have completely defied all efforts to
open them. The local battery rebuilder refuses to touch them
saying they can't guaranty not to damage the case. Any
takers????
