Silent Key Auction for Herb Petereit, W0AFY. If you knew Herb, you
knew that he was one of the "old timers". One of his first jobs after
moving to Omaha, Nebraska, in the 60's was building Galaxy 500's at
World Radio. He knew his gear inside and out, knew how everything
worked, and took a lot of pride in keeping everything running in top
shape. For many HAMS in the Omaha area in the 70's and 80's, Herb was
the guy to go to when you needed help. Herb passed away on Veteran's
Day, November 11th, 2003, after a severe bout of asthma. He was 71
years old. Herb is pictured here with his high-school sweety and
cherished wife of 47 years, Bonnie. All procedes from these auctions
will go directly to Bonnie.

This Yaesu FT-ONE was Herb's main rig. The following is from his own
notes:

---------------------------------

07/24/87 08:51pm My new Yaesu FT-ONE

Purchased a used Yaesu FT-ONE today (January 26, 1987) from Amateur
Electronic Supply. Salesman
was Dale.

From Bill of Sale:

1 FT-ONE #4086 Used FT-ONE with 4 filters, RAM, FM,
1M010186 $1299.00

Later I bought a service manual for $28.00 shipped UPS.

On 3-5-87, I converted the Transmitter to be able to transmit on all
frequencies on the FT-ONE.

Note:
July 24, 1987 Update:
Since the Purchase of the FT-ONE, I have added the CW Keyer
board but I will have to make some slight adjustments whenever
I have the cover off the radio at some future date.
The radio is working flawlessly and I now drive the Heathkit
SB-220 purchased at the Sioux City Hamfest from an amateur Op-
erator from Griswold Iowa.

---------------------------------

Be sure to check out the other auctions from this seller. We'll be
adding items from his ham shack regularly, so be sure to check back
often.
