Default Kenwood TM-V7A undocumented feature?

My Kenwood TM-V7A has been my backup radio which didn't get used
much. I always had planned on installing it into my vehicle when time
allowed. However, with my TM-733 going on the fritz, I've had to go
to the V7A more often recently.

With that said, I'm noticing an issue with the TM-V7A I'm not sure if
it's 'normal'. When I first power it up, I get the banner screen for
the unit, then it goes straight to VFO mode. I haven't been able to
find any documentation about this, but I thought there should be a way
to make it go to memory mode at powerup.

Has anyone else encountered this 'issue' and hopefully found a
solution?

Thanks and 73,

Bob, N8MMR

Bob,

It has been a loooong time since I fiddled with the configuration of
my rig, but when I turn it back on, it comes up in exactly the mode it
was in when I turned it off. Take a look in the menu for Memory, and
then Autostore. Turning it on will probably solve your problem. It
is covered on page 39 of my manual.
