before buying Yaesu (****).

so you two can post 2 or 3 word judgements.

I checked out eham, and the reviews for Yaesu. They are rated
consistent with the other brands.

I think you mean www.comdac.com. They are my nearest amateur radio store
too, but I've never visited it. I've seen them at hamfests but have
never bought anything from them.

Upay, I mean Ebay. For example, the Kenwood TM-271A typically sells for
$175-190 on Ebay, new or used, while you can get it retail at dealers for $145.
