Recently I’ve been getting into 2 Meter SSB and having fun. Currently
I’m using a Yaesu FT-847 and a pair of 2 meter loops (the KU4AB loops)
stacked with the top loop at 25’.

Pretty much if I can hear it I can work it. Regularly work stations
about 120+ miles away with 50 watts. I’m looking to improve my receive.
The 847 has a built in Preamp (I don’t know the gain or noise figure).
Would I do better to buy an external preamp and not use the 847’s
built in preamp? If so please give me some model numbers of quality
preamps which will help.
