Thanks to all who responded.
I found the source - an electric blanket in my neighbor's house! I took my portable shortwave and found the LOUD 1 second pulsing rather quuickly. It's the cheap switching power supply that's the problem. Now I just need to convince them to get another brand (I believe it's made by Perfect Fit - they already have complaints filed with the FCC) Jeff On Wed, 29 Dec 2004 14:23:30 -0600, wrote: In article , Jeff L wrote: Thanks for the suggestions Dave. I've never met this neighbor yet, but I do plan to. Kind of a bummer it has to be over a problem! Your electric fence comments are interesting. It's a very regular, rhythmic pulse every second or so. Forget the DSP based outboard boxes, a waste of money. What does work is a Timewave ANC-4 or MFJ-1026, I have the ANC-4 for getting rid of a neighbors dimmer light from S-9 + to zero. They both use the same method, phase cancellation before the noise gets in the radio. The drawback is that these types of devices will only work on one noise, so if you have say a power line noise and a dimmer light noise you'll have to decide which is worse. Good luck. |
