Help: Collins 51S-1 No rx on 1 band
Hi I just received a MINT Collins 51S-1 and I tried all bands on receive and all work great except the AM broadcast band 77 ABC etc. All other bands are fine? Can someone tell me where to look for the problem? I haven't taken it out of the case yet. Thanks very much......Rich |

This is a 2 to 30MHz receiver. Sensitivity is poor below 2MHz. I can't
remember if there was a way to bypass the preselector on this unit. It has been a long time since I have had one. Basically, there are 1MHz ranges in the preselector assembly with additional tracking provided by the tuning system. The thing you need to be careful about when buying one of these receivers is the preselector assembly wearing out. At Rockwell-Collins they used to use a 51J receiver in their service center as one of the pieces of test equipment; it held up better than the 51S. Stil, if your receiver wasn't abused, it will last a long time. Pete wrote in message ...
