Someone mentioned a Icom unit, but it's hardly a mobile, and it's close to $1k. I don't need to transmit on anything other than 2m and 440, but would like to receive local PD on 484 and CHP on 42 mhz. The Yaesu 8900 looks sweet, but doesn't do either 42 or anything past 480. Thanks. Evan I'd look for a dual bander that has general coverage receive for the 484 stuff -- and a separate Motorola or whatever rig for 42 MHZ; you can find them cheap on eBay or rec.radio.amateur.swap -- I saw a low band Motorola Maxtrak rig cheap somewhere in that neighborhood a few days ago. Otherwise, there's no much ham stuff I know of for 42 Mhz. bob k5qwg |
