Progress trying out fast Internet Jonathan B. Cox Staff Writer Progress Energy might someday be more than a power company to its customers -- it might be the Web service provider, too. The Raleigh company is experimenting with technology that allows it to carry high-speed Internet traffic using a combination of electric lines and wireless links. It tested the service on about 25 computers at homes and businesses in the Wakefield area this spring and summer with success. |
