Get a copy of the New Jersey Police Manual. They are approx. $30.00 from
http://www.gannlaw.com/ If you can't the prosecutor (NJ does not use the term District Attorney) is obligated to let you use his /hers in your defense. You should just be able to quote the state statute. The cop was probably trying to just give you a hard time figuring you don't know the law. I doubt the officer will pursue this further. 73 Bob, K2NNJ |

File a complaint against the cop and if they call you, record what they say. They could come and lock you up, and then you could end up with a nice nest egg. |

(You may end up with an Assistant DA, but they will accommodate you if you persist.) What the DA thinks doesn't matter. See FCC ruling 93-17, which dealt with amateur radio equipment which could RX public safety frequencies. Once the feds rule, local jurisdictions don't have a choice. Another example of the Great Dumbing Down of America. The world is methodically being dumbed down by government efforts to protect us from stupid people. Stupid drivers don't recognize the dangers of speed, so they drive too fast and kill themselves. The government regulates speed, so now more stupid people survive. Stupid automobile passengers get killed because they don't buckle their seat belts. Government steps in and makes seat belt usage mandatory, so now more stupid people survive. Stupid pedestrians don't know enough to not step out into a busy street, so they get injured and killed trying to cross the street. The government makes laws giving them the right-of-way, so now more stupid people survive. Stupid parents don't recognize the value of childhood inoculations. The government makes them vaccinate their children before entering school, so now more stupid people survive. Stupid hams don't know enough to keep their fingers out of 3KV plate transformers, so they get fried in their own juice. Some would have the government protect them, and more stupid people would survive. In the ways of Mother Nature, stupidity was kept in check because stupid people generally didn't survive to breeding age, thus our species tended to get smarter over time. But stupidity begets stupidity, so we are being overwhelmed by a tsunami of stupidity. The tsunami is triggered by the government protection of stupid people, which allows them to survive to reproduce. Ergo, less government regulations makes a smarter populace. 73, de Hans, K0HB |

RHF,
I'm not going to followup any more after this one, except to say that the dashes and equal signs in your posting confuse me. You must be new to the keyboard. However, I'm really digging my new IC-R10. Not terribly hot, nor selective, receiving on HF, but it's nice to be able to take a hand-held to work that lets me know if HF or 6m is "hoppin", plus for use as a regular scanner on VHF/UHF. That being said, since this is a radio group, I also want to say that you should post *before* you start drinking. You sound like a very old person with the mind of a child. But getting back to the JFK quote, you seem to forget that the purpose of government is to serve the people. The idea of "ask not what your country can do for you..." is completely contrary to the concepts espoused by the framers of the U.S. Constitution. You can compare that document, he http://memory.loc.gov/const/const.html and then compare it to China's version: http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/20...ent_633686.htm "It also follows that if a government ... itself begins to violate those rights - then it is the right and duty of the people to regain control of their affairs and set up a form of government that will serve the people better." --Thomas Jefferson Here are some good links to learn more about this country: http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/7970/jefpco21.htm http://www.kidport.com/RefLib/UsaHis...ion/DecInd.htm http://quote.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Jefferson http://usembassy.state.gov/posts/rp1/wwwhw022.html Now, it's important that I say this: whatever you feel about politics or religion, in this country you may say it freely. Yes, that's right, even if I don't agree with you. I've been called a jerk by people whose opinions I deeply respect. And remember, NJ is one of those places where DWB is a felony offense. (Driving While Black, for the uninitiated). I've boycotted New Jersey. Pick up your scanner and move somewhere that the police don't act like stormtroopers. |
