Keith,
I have a commercial (AT&T?) device in a sealed package that turns an outlet/lamp on when the phone rings. Don't believe it has a schematic though. Evan |

I want to make one for my workshop where it's very noisy at times and I don't hear the phone. Buy one at Radio Shack for about $10. I got one for my very hard of hearing M-I-L who really loved it. I rigged a light next to her TV. When it flashed, she answered the phone. Her hearing aid was designed to receive signals from an inductive ear piece in the phone. RS used to sell such an item...plugs in and strobes when the line rings...
use them a lot in broadcast use..... Chris WB5ITT at arrl.net Keith wrote: Does anyone have a schematic for once of those strobe circuits that will flash when the phone rings. I want to make one for my workshop where it's very noisy at times and I don't hear the phone. Thanks Keith |

The easiest is a neon bulb NE-2 [don't use an NE-2H] and the largest
resistor to get it to light. Probably in the 10's to 100k. This isn't bright, but needs no power. This was used for many years in many circuits. If it is not bright enough, then one of the other circuits with a high resistance sense and external power to light a bright light is needed. That link has one http://www.ee.washington.edu/circuit...Schem_Tel.html "Keith" wrote in message ...
