That you sneer at attempts to introduce Radio Hams to
materials for advancement is a very good illustration
of why anybody who holds, or who has ever held, a licence
issued under the gangrenous degeneration that is the M3/CB
Fools' Licence scheme will _NEVER_ make it into the
ranks of _REAL_ Radio Hams.

It looks to be a good book for the newcomer to RF design giving readers a
basic understanding of the fundamentals, but the question is - Why would
someone with your 30+ years of experience as a real radio ham find useful?

Fair comment Steve and a good question.

You, as someone who pretends to be something important
in matters of education do not understand the value
of a reference book packed with information?

How about - anything, and everything, you can lay your hands on, for
the rest of your life. There are no "best" books - favourite books,
books that made an impact on you, yes. But "best" books - no, not
really. Just read everything you can from as many sources as you can.

PS - and newsgroups, discussions - people post lots of interesting
stuff......

Yes, indeed, but you are arguing against a brick
wall here - those who hold, or who have ever held,
a licence issued under the gangrenous degeneration
that is the M3/CB Fools' Licence scheme, especially
those who were either too lazy or too stupid, or both,
to be able to tackle and then pass an exam aimed
at 14-year-olds and had to go instead for an
exam aimed at 6-year-olds.......reading just isn't
their strong point!

It is never a waste to fly the flag (standard?) for
the maintenance of standards.

It is never a waste to protect the status of Ham Radio
against the Mongolian hordes of intellectual ne'er-do-wells,
those who "pride" themselves on achieving a 6-year-old's
exam pass.
