3B6, AGALEGA ISLANDS (DXpedition Update). Team leader, Witek, SP9MRO,
announced in a press release that the Polish DXpedition to Agalega
Island, which was rescheduled to take place between June 6-18th, has
received the new callsign 3B6DX for their operation. The DXpedition
schedule has also been announced. Here are the details:
* The main group will start the trip at Okecie airport in Warsaw
on Monday morning, May 28th at 8:30 AM.
* They will be landing in Mauritius on Tuesday morning at 6:10 AM,
May 29th.
* Tuesday through Friday - The team will be busy in Mauritius.
* Early Saturday morning, the team will start their trip to Agalega
Islands by boat.
* They are expecting to see Agalega's land on Tuesday, June 5th
* Just after their arrival on Agalega, they will start building
their antennas.
* They expect to be active from 3B6 the morning of June 6th at the
latest.
* They will start to head back to Mauritius on Monday, June 18th.
* The team will have a flight on Sunday evening back to Poland.
* The DXpedition team will be back at Okecie airport in Warsaw on
Monday, June 25th at 14:15.

Witek, SP9MRO, states, "We would like to thank all of you who donated

solve 90% of the problems that aroused before, but we still have more

3V, TUNISIA. Alex, GM0DHZ, informs that he will be here for a 5 week
holiday starting November 19th. He will be active with operators from
3V8SS. This will be a holiday-style operation with activity on 80-10
meters and possibly 160m, CW and SSB. QSL via info on QRZ.com.

4L, GEORGIA. Vaho, 4L8A, will be active during the CQWW WPX CW Contest
(May 26-27th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/High-Power entry.

4L, GEORGIA. Mamuka , 4L2M, will be active during the CQWW WPX CW
Contest (May 26-27th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (40m)/Low-Power entry.

4O, MONTENEGRO (ITU Assigns A Prefix). Montenegro became a new country
(DXCC entity) last June, and has been waiting for the ITU to assign
an Amateur Radio callsign block since then. The International Tele-
communications Union (ITU) did not want to give Montenegro an entirely
new prefix, so it required the states of Montenegro and Serbia to agree
upon one or two prefixes from the five existing prefixes (4N, 4O, YT,
YU and YZ) assigned to the former Serbia-Montenegro. An agreement was
reached on May 11th, and the prefix "4O" is now listed as Montenegro's
prefix. Montenegro stations will be using the prefix block 4O0 through
4O9. Serbia stations will continue to use YT and YU prefixes, but the
ITU has taken 4N and YZ prefixes for future reassignment. DXers are
reminded to please update their logging programs.

5B, CYPRUS. Nick, G3RWF, will be active as 5B/G3RWF near Polis, June
2-30th. This will be a holiday operation, so he will operate SSB, RTTY
and PSK during his spare time.

5D, MOROCCO. Operators Stefano/IK2QEI, Ahmed/CN8WK, Bacha/CN8WW and
Andy/YO3JR will be active with the special callsign 5D5A during the
CQ WW WPX CW Contest (March 26-27th) as a Multi-? entry. QSL via I2WIJ.

7X, ALGERIA. Look for 7X0RY to be active during the CQ WW WPX CW

9M2/9M4, WEST MALAYSIA (Special Event, Contest and IOTA Op). Tex,
9M2TO, informs OPDX that members of the Malaysian Amateur Radio
Transmitter Society (MARTS) will use their special contest callsign
9M4DXX during the CQ WW WPX CW Contest (May 26-27th) as a Multi-Op/
Single-TX entry. The MARTS contest team will be active from Penang

CQ Announces Hall of Fame Inductees for 2007 (Dayton, Ohio - May 19,
2007) - CQ Amateur Radio magazine today announced this year’s inductees
into the CQ Amateur Radio Hall of Fame and the CQ Contest and DX Halls
of Fame. There are 15 inductees into the Amateur Radio Hall of Fame and
three new members each of the DX Hall of Fame and the Contest Hall of
Fame.

CQ Amateur Radio Hall of Fame
The CQ Amateur Radio Hall of Fame honors individuals who: 1) Whether
licensed hams or not, who have made significant contributions to
amateur radio; and/or 2) As licensed amateurs, have made significant
contributions either to amateur radio, to their professional careers
or to some other aspect of life on our planet. This year's inductees
are, in alphabetical order:

Catona, Phillip W2JAV (SK) - RTTY pioneer, inventor of the modern-day
terminal unit

CQ DX Hall of Fame
There are three new inductees this year into the CQ DX Hall of Fame:

Roger Western, G3SXW, and Nigel Cawthorne, G3TXF, were nominated
together. Roger and Nigel are avid DXpeditioners and have activated
many rare locations with their two-man, CW-only, expeditions. To date,
Nigel has operated from 44 DX locations, while Roger has been on the
air from 37. Nigel owns what may be the world's largest collection of
QSL cards. In fact, he recently completed an addition to his home
solely to house his QSL collection! In addition to his trips with
Nigel, Roger is a founding member of the "Voodudes" contest DXpedition
group, a member of the CQ Contest Hall of Fame, and an international
adviser to the CQ World Wide DX Contest Committee. He has also authored
two books, Up Two: Adventures of a DXpeditioner and Contesting in
Africa: Multi-Multi on the Equator.

Mauro Pregliasco, I1JQJ, is co-editor (with his wife, Valeria, IK1ADH)
of 425 DX News, the leading DX bulletin in Europe and one of the most
popular in the world. The newsletter is published online in both
Italian and English, with some 15,000 subscribers to the English
version alone. Mauro is also a very active DXer, holding most of the
major DX awards, sits on the Radio Society of Great Britain's IOTA
committee, and is Vice Secretary General and HF Award Manager for ARI,
the Italian national amateur radio association.

CQ Contest Hall of Fame
The CQ Contest Hall of Fame inducts three new members this year
as well:

Fred Capossela, K6SSS, is a past CQ World Wide DX Contest Director and,
for the past 40 years, has maintained and annually updated the CQWW
All-Time Records List. It was under Fred's direction that the CQWW
became the world's most popular and most professionally-run amateur
radio contest. The first contester to run the contest, Fred introduced
the rigorous verification standards for contacts and multipliers,
developed the All-Time Records List, set the current contest dates and
introduced the Band-by-Band top scorers' matrix. It was Fred's
dedication to running the contest in a fair, honest and professional
manner that laid the foundation for the CQWW's current stature.

Phil Goetz, N6ZZ (SK), has the distinction of having operated the CQWW
DX Contest from each of the world's 40 CQ zones - one of only two
amateurs ever to accomplish this feat (Dick Norton, N6AA, is the other)
- and missed operating in the CQWW only three times in the 47 years
between 1960 and 2006. Phil was a member of the first ARRL Contest
Advisory Committee and served three separate times on the CQWW Contest
Committee. In addition, he was a judge at every World Radio Teamsport
Championship (WRTC) event, except in 2002, when he was a contestant.
Phil became a Silent Key earlier this year.

Tom Taormina, K5RC, has been contesting since 1959, when he entered the
ARRL Sweepstakes and made a whopping 35 contacts. His scores improved
dramatically since then, and he has held several records and won
several national and divisional championships. He has also mentored a
string of world-class contesters, who have themselves gone on to
record-setting performances. Tom helped develop the Multi-Two category
in the ARRL DX contests and helped create the North American QSO Party.
He is also a past member of the CQ WW Contest Committee and a past
Editor of the National Contest Journal. Tom is also active in DXing and
public service communications.

DD4, GERMANY. Zik, VE3ZIK, a member of the "Contestgroup IONOSQUEEZERS"
(OV Bonn) will be active as DD4B during the CQ WW WPX CW Contest (May
26-27th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (possibly 20 or 15m) entry. QSL
via DL3PS, by the DARC QSL bureau.

EA8, CANARY ISLANDS. Franky, ON7RU, will be active from the Gran
Canaria (AF-004) as EA8/OQ7R, June 4-13th. Activity will be on all
bands 80-10 meters, CW, SSB and RTTY. He will use a FT990 and wire
antennas. QSL via ON7RU, by the bureau or direct. ADDED NOTE: Frank
states that QSL cards from last year's SV8/OT0A operation are being
processed.

ER0, MOLDOVA. Look for Serge, UR5FEO, to be active as ER0FEO during
the CQ WW WPX CW Contest (May 26-27th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry.

FO/C, CLIPPERTON ISLANDS. It was announced at the Dayton DX Dinner
Banquet by Pete, N0FW, that a team lead by Bob Grimmick, N6OX, would
be going to Clipperton Island sometime in early March 2008. More
details will be forthcoming via John Kennon, N7CQQ.

G, ENGLAND (Possibly France). Jim, KR1S, will be in the UK for a few
weeks, starting possibly this week. He hopes to do some portable QRP
operating from Windermere and London, as well as Amsterdam and Paris.

HH, HAITI. Yannick, F6FYD, is now here on business for one year. He has
received the callsign HH2FYD and hopes to be active during his free

HZ, SAUDI ARABIA. Thomas, PY2ZXU/SM0CXU, will be active as HZ1EX from
HZ1GW East of Medina during the CQ WW WPX CW Contest (May 26-27th) as
Single-Op/All-Band entry (80m not allowed!). QSL via SM0BYD.

IOTA NEWS.....................
EU-001. Alex, GM0DHZ, will be active as SV5/GM0DHZ from KOS Island
for 2 weeks starting June 7th. Activity will be on CW and
SSB. This will be a holiday style operation.

EU-060. Members of the White Tower DX team will be active from
Skyros Island between June 12-22nd. Operators mentioned a
SV0XAW, SV2FPU (WTDX Team Leader), SV2HNZ, SV2HOB, SV2HPP,
SV2HPY, SV2HRT, SV2HSV and SV2GNQ. The DXpedition team will
be using the special callsign SY8WT. Activity will be on
160-6 meters on CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31. QSL via SV2HPP. For

EU-061. Operators Udo/DL1DWR, Lutz/DG4VX and Olaf/DG0CH will be
active as LA/homecall from Tromoy Island between now and
May 29th. Activity will be on 160-2 meters, mostly the
digital modes, also CW, SSB and FM. QSL via their home

EU-067. Operators Theodoros/SV1EJD, Manu/IZ8IYL and Ant/IZ8CCW will
be active as J48MDC from Mikonos Island between June
13-18th. Do not expect too much activity from Ant and Manu
because they are on a honeymoon trip. Pilot station will be

EU-088. Members of the EDR Silkeborg will be active as OZ8MW/P from
Anholt Island (DIA NK-001), July 25-30th. Activity will
include an entry in the IOTA Contest (July 28-29th). The
activity outside of the contest will be on 80-10 meters
using CW and SSB.

EU-174. Laci, HA0HW, will be active as J48HW and SV8/homecall from
Thassos Island, Greece (MIA: MG-124, Grid KN20hs), between
May 27th and June 5th. Activity will be on the HF bands,
mainly 40/30/20/17 meters and 6 meters. Operations will be
mainly CW, with some SSB, RTTY and PSK31 as well. QSL via
his home callsign, by the HA Bureau or direct.

NA-029. Operators Gregg/VE3ZZ and Noel/VE2BR will operate from
Prince Edward Island in eastern Canada from July 25-30th
using the VY2TT superstation (Grid Square FN76vs, CISA
PE-001). During the July 28-29th IOTA Contest they will
operate as VY2Z (QSL to VE3ZZ) and outside of the contest
as VE3ZZ/VY2 and VE2BR/VY2 (QSL to their home callsigns
direct via the QRZ.com address or via the Bureau).

NA-144. Terry, W6WTG, will be active as W6WTG/p from Anacapa Island
(USI CA-002S, WLOTA LH-1300, WW Loc. DM04HA, Ventura County,
California) during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 28-29th). He
will be running battery power with a IC-7000 and will be
active on 20 meters. QSL via his home callsign.

OC-129. Kaoru, JA7QVK, is active as JA7QVK/DU7 Cebu Island in the
Philippines. He has been on Cebu Island since August of 2005
and is there on business. Kaoru is expected to be here until
this coming August. He informs OPDX that he will be active
during his free time especially on the weekends on 40-6
meters mainly SSB. Equipment is an IC-706MK2G and ATAS-100
which is a mobile whip like a screw driver. QSL via his home

J7, DOMINICA. Rod, NA9N, will be active as J79RM, June 28th-July 5th.
He will mostly be operating HF and will try to work a number of digital

KL7/NL7, ALASKA (IOTA Op). Operators Marvin/KL1YY, Bob/NF7E and
Art/NN7A will operate from Ushagat Island, Alaska (IOTA NA-206), from
July 12-17th. They will have two stations using 100 watt transceivers
with vertical, wire, and kite antennas. Operation will be CW by
NN7A/NL7 and SSB by KL1YY and NF7E/KL7 on 160-10 meters with SSB on the
20m and 15m IOTA frequencies as conditions permit. No digital or VHF
operations are planned. There are no existing facilities on Ushagat,
so operation will be from a camp set up by the operators using battery
and generator power. E-mail and log checking will not be possible

BS7H QSO/QSL INQUIRIES! QSL Manager Steve, KU9C, sent out the
following announcement: "Folks, I have received quite a number of QSO
not in logs, I forgot my QSO detail, my dog/significant other/kid/etc
trashed my log, etc questions in the last week, so let me help with
some ground rules:

I'm not in a position to answer whether you are in or not in the log
at the moment. Rather than ask via email, I'd ask you to kindly put
the inquiry in a NOTE with your QSL to me. I'll research the log as
I work your QSL request, and respond accordingly. If you are NOT IN
THE WEB log, don't give up, put down EVERY QSO you believe you had,
and I'll do the rest. If the web log shows 20SSB, put down EVERY qso
you think you had on 20 SSB, not just the first. Don't be embarassed
with dupes, rather, give me all the QSOs you've had, I'll see the
dupes anyway, but if you are not in the log the first time, it will
save me a lot of time researching. Remember, every researched call
takes time from processing other cards. If it's a busted call, I'll
use well-established judgement in issuing the card, and may ask you
to help confirm that the person's whose call appears did NOT make a
QSO.

If you DO NOT HAVE ANY detail besides what is in the web log online,
it's impossible for me to give you credit for the card. I need to
have SOME supporting detail on your QSO. Give me your best guess
from memory, who you heard work BS7H just before or after. Chances
are one of your friends was in the hunt at the same time, and can
help. Remember, it will be a lot easier to remember it now than a
month from now. And, I'm not in a position to issue a QSL to you
'just because' the web log says you're there. Not the way it works.

Don't fret the 39 cent stamp or the 84 cent stamp you sent before
the postage increase. I'll cover it.

If I do not respond to your email, please don't take it personally.
Please follow the guidelines here. I tend to not answer the emails
when they ask the questions above, as each email is roughly
equivalent to the time it takes to answer 2-3 QSLs...and I tend to
choose to answer the cards first.

I'll let you know when the cards start going out via this forum.

As an aside, if you have a problem with how I do QSLs, how long it
takes to get a card from me, etc, please take it up with me directly.
I don't appreciate reading it third hand via a reflector, etc.
Frankly, if you are kind enough to send me a note, I'll be glad to
help research it. In many cases, I may be able to help you understand
why the process take so long for your QSL, as I keep pretty good
records of those calls that take time, and for what reasons that is

VP5/PY2XB QSL STATUS. Fred, PY2XB, informs that he is still receiving
many QSL requests for his recent operation as VP5/PY2XB, despite the
announcements in all DX Bulletins and DX lists that he has a QSL
Manager. Fred will forward any requests received via direct to his
QSL Manager PT7WA, but of course, it will delay the process of
QSLing. For those sending bureau cards: Please be sure to write
"VIA PT7WA!" so the Central Bureau will correctly send it to the PT7
Bureau instead of the PY2 bureau.

SPECIAL EVENT. Look for special event station TM1VDM to be active until

SPECIAL EVENT. Members of the REF83 will activate the special callsign
TM2RHC during the Air show taking place at LE LUC ARMY AIR BASE from

SPECIAL EVENT. Look for the Ukrainian special event station EO20R to be
active between May 28th and June 3rd. Activity is to celebrate the 20th
anniversary of Slavutych, the city built after the Chernobyl nuclear
disaster to host the survivors who had to be relocated from the
evacuation zone around the reactor. QSL via UY2RO.

SRT'S WORLD-WIDE DXPEDITION TROPHY. Oreste, IZ8EDJ, S.R.T. Founder and
Team Coordinator, annnounced that the members of the Strange Radio Team
(SRT) are once again taking their annual survey for DXpedition of the
year. The SRT World-Wide DXpedition Trophy will go to the DXpedition
that receives the most votes. This year's DXpedition list is: 1A4A,
3B7C, 3C0M, 4O3T, 5A7A, 9M4SDX, BS7H, DX0JP, J20RR & J20MM, KH8SI, N8S,

TO3, MARTINIQUE (NA-117). Alex, VE3KF, will be active as TO3T between
now and May 31st. Activity will include the CQ WPX CW Contest (May

V2, ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA. Horward, WB4WXE, will be heading back here
and will be active as V26HS between June 9-24th. He will be putting an
emphasis on 6 meters but will also be active on 2 meter and HF.

VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS. Maciek, WQ7X, will be active as
VP5/WQ7X, between now and June 5th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters

VP6/D, DUCIE ISLAND. Eric/K3NA and Carsten/DL6LAU announced at the
Dayton DX forum that a multi-national team of 13 operators will
be going to Ducie Island in February 2008. The landing permissions and
licenses are granted and a suitable charter vessel is secured. They
are planning to stay 13 days on the atoll. Current list of operators
a Carsten/DL6LAU (Team Leader), Eric/K3NA (Co-Leader), Dietmar/
DL3DXX, Andy/DL8LAS, Martti/OH2BH, Robin/WA6CDR and Krassimir/K1LZ.

YB, INDONESIA (Help Kadek!). It has been reported that Kadek, YB9BU,
has lost all his radio equipment following a fire that destroyed his
house in early April. A fund called “Help Kadek” has been set up to
help Kadek rebuild his radio shack and bring him back on the air.

YM3, TURKEY. Mill, LX1CC, will be vacationing in the city of Selcuk
between June 7-21st. He will be using the special callsign YM3CC. His
activity will be on 80-10 meters, WARC bands included, on SSB. QSL via
his home callsign, direct, by the bureau or e-QSL.

YO, ROMANIA. Jean Michel, F6AJA, is currently active again for the 14th
time as YO/F6AJA from Suceava (450 Km north of Bucarest) until May
26th. During his free time Jean Michel will visit his friend Silviu,
YO8FZ.

ZF2, CAYMAN ISLANDS. David, K2DBK, will be operating from Grand Cayman
(NA-016) from July 22-29th, as ZF2DK. This is a "vacation style"
operation; operating during his spare time. David will be able to
operate on all bands from 40-6 meters, but he expects to spend most of
his time on 20m, conditions permitting. However, he will see what bands
are open when he is there and operate accordingly. He does plan to try
a little 6m if the band is open. David will primarily be operating SSB
and he may operate a little PSK as well. Most likely, he will be
hanging out around the IOTA frequencies. QSL either direct (SASE or SAE
+ 1 GS please) or via the bureau to his home callsign (K2DBK). He plans
to upload the logs to LoTW. Updated information will be available at
his Web site (http://k2dbk.com) or on QRZ.com.
