(wwlp) - On the eve of the one year anniversary of the June first tornado, a very timely weather conference in Chicopee. 130 people came to the National Weather Service Skywarn training seminar held at 22News studios Thursday night. They came to be certified and re-certified as "Skywarn Spotters," capable of identifying and reporting severe weather and damage. "We can verify that there is a tornado on the ground. Or there is damage. Or there's hail or extreme flooding, street flooding. Just different types of storm damage and verify it and tell the National Weather Service," said Eric Tuller, a skywarn coordinator from Ware. Many of these "weather spotters" are also Ham Radio Operators, who form an emergency reporting network.
