2016 Hurricanes and Tropical Storms

Hurricanes and Tropical Storms are still in the news. Both the Atlantic
and Pacific are seeing these storms develop late in the 2015 season. Alex
is the first hurricane to form during January in the Atlantic since 1938.
The hurricane season for 2016 starts in June.



Visit the US Naval Observatory-Joint Typhoon Warning Center for the latest
images and data for the Pacific region.

NOAA-NWS-CPC Issues La Nina Watch

The Climate Prediction Center has added a La Nina Watch to the 2016
forecast.



Synopsis: A transition to ENSO-neutral is likely during late Northern
Hemisphere spring or early summer 2016, with an increasing chance of La
Niña during the second half of the year.

This movie provides a 30-minute window to the Sun as seen by NASAs Solar

and how they evolve.

Leeuwarden Cultural Capital of Europe in 2018

Together with the capital of Malta, in September 2013 the city of
Leeuwarden was nominated as cultural capital of Europe for 2018. The
organisation “European Cultural Capital 2018� is already very busy to make
this a special year and Leeuwarden, together with the province of Friesland
will sparkle with activities.



The theme for the year will be “Connecting People� and as ham radio
operators we are especially equipped to contribute.

ISS Space Station: 16 april contact to Engineering Festival in Washington !

Saturday 16 April : ARISS contact planned for Engineering Festival,
Washington, D.C



An International Space Station school radio contact has been planned for
Timothy Peake KG5BVI with participants at Engineering Festival, Washington,
D.C, Saturday April 16, 2016.





The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 18:19 UTC.





The amateur radio contact will be a telebridge operated by IK1SLD in
northern Italy.





The contact should be audible over most of Europe....
