EFHW-8010 Best DX take off angle

Posted: 27 Feb 2017 07:54 PM PST
http://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thre...-angle.556666/

Hi there all, I posted about this antenna a while ago about raising the
height slightly to improve performance. I have this set up as a sloper
about 14ft high sloping down to about 6ft at the low end. This antenna is
130ft long. My question is what angle do I have this at? I was told its at
a too high an angle for dx and most of my power is shooting up too high for
DX. If I lowered the 14ft height I would be lowering my take off angle, so
whatever the best angle is then so how high should my...

Rotor with a stuck mounting plate bolt.

http://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thre...e-bolt.557154/

Rotor is in good condition all except one rusted bolt (that broke off) that
mounts the rotor to the rotor plate.

The bottom cant come off b/c the wires that connect to the terminals are
soldiered on... Plus that terminal is pretty rusted as well.

Can/should I soak the bottom in vinegar?

I plan on replacing the terminals with Rotor-Parts QC weather proof
connector.

Soak the bottom in penetrating oil.

I guess what Im asking is the best approach to this broke off rusted bolt.

I can...

Help Identifying Tower

Posted: 27 Feb 2017 04:00 PM PST

I have several sections of tower that I bought about 25 years ago from the
widow of a friend of mine. I have been told that it was a from an FM radio
station that replaced it with a larger taller tower. It is bolted
construction and has steps on one face about 24 inches apart. Each
section is ten feet long and about 18 inches on each face. There are five
bolts in each leg per joint.

Does anybody know who manufactured this tower?

New Ham needs antenna plan.

As the title implies, Im fresh meat So fresh, in fact, I dont even take
the exams until the end of the month, and am currently grinding my way
through the General book. Im also a guy who needs to apply skills to
actually learn them, so Im trying to kill two birds with one stone and
develop an antenna plan for the QTH.

Right now my primary HF interests are local/regional phone and maybe some
data work. Seeing how Im starting on the bad side of the solar cycle, Im
focusing on the 40m...

Help with End Fed Antenna Install

Hello everyone!

My good buddy, after many years of me being annoying, studied and received
his license.

He bought a really nice IC746pro, a Key, and a MyAntenna EFHW-8010 End Fed.

Were going to both learn CW together as well! Exciting times!

Anyway, we took a walk around his house yesterday and wanted some advice on
how to install these end feds. I built my own fan dipole and have had very
good luck with it, but Ive never setup an end fed.

So we have some questions.

The Inverted L seems...

My home-brewed QRO STL for 10-20 meters is finally done!

My home-brewed small transmitting loop project is finally complete and
working FB. I originally decided to build one of these intriguing
antennas more than a year and a half ago but I attempted two other builds
that changed course in mid-stream and sort of got put way back on the back
burner; more details on those later.

About six months ago I took the plunge and shelled out almost $900 for a
well-made manual/hydraulic tubing roller so that I could construct a
perfectly circular loop with...

Capacitance range of a 12-plate 5" butterfly air variable?

Posted: 27 Feb 2017 10:06 AM PST
http://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thre...riable.556879/

Anyone know the range of a 12 plate butterfly cap with 5" plates? I used
to be able to figure out the capacitance min/max via Bob, VE3UKs online
calculator but his cap site has been under construction for ages---no more
calculator there.

The rotor/stator plate spacing is 0.5626" and wide enough for 14kv peaks as
I seem to recall; what I really need to determine is the minimum
capacitance so I can possibly remove a set or two or three so I can tune to
10M if needed (this is...

Feedline advice

http://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thre...advice.557116/

Kind people,

I am looking for some opinions. I am in the process of putting together a
20m-6m hex beam as an alternative to my 80m horizontal loop. Its ultimate
resting place will be on the flat roof of my 3 story victorian
monstronsity, but in the shorter run, I plan to put it on my flat garage
roof where I can climb up and fiddle with it easily.

It is designed to present a 50 ohm load and be fed by coax. I have enough
decent quality rg213 to reach my roof, but no where near enough to...
